deposit denominated in sterling in an overseas bank which accounted in US
dollars – the bank went into administration and later liquidation and was
the subject of a complaint by the Securities and Exchange Commission
alleging fraud – whether asset was a debt denominated in sterling – held it
was – whether the appellant’s claim in the liquidation in respect of the CD
was a separate asset for CGT purposes – held it was not – appeal dismissed |
